In stemless wine glasses and short tumblers, GLAZER mini | Take ICE Easy! ice looks balanced. It is not awkwardly huge, and the clarity still shows.
For whiskey at home 3 inches Clear Ice Mold has been a nice match. The cube looks clean in the glass, it feels premium without being gimmicky, and prep is simple.
I thought fancy crystal blocks were bartender sorcery till this neat tray moved into my freezer. It’s about the size of a paperback (roughly 3.5 by 6 inches) so it fits next to the peas without a territorial dispute.
Last Saturday I tested it during our very serious Eurovision sweepstake. Filled the silicone mould with boiled tap water, poked the little plastic liner in place, shoved it behind the ice-cream and left it till the final votes came in. Out slid a single, chunky 2.25 inch cube so clear my mate Phil tried to read the lyrics sheet through it. The cube outlived two measures of Highland Park, still pristine when Sweden robbed us again.
And the best bit, you don’t need Hulk strength to release the ice, a gentle twist does the trick. So my cheap freezer suddenly feels like a cocktail bar, and my whisky looks downright posh, even if the singing doesn’t.
Friday night whisky looked almost too posh once I dropped in the ice diamond from the Glazer mini. Totally clear and big enough to bully the lemon slice aside. Works a treat in iced coffee too.
The mould is a silicone crown on a stainless cup, fill the liner with boiled tap water and shove it in the freezer. And yes, the top down freeze trick works, the 2.56 by 2.21 inch chunk emerges clear as a window. One push on the base, cube slides out, no wrestling. My 8 year old tried it in her cola, still flawless. It barely shrank through a whole Bake Off episode while I unwound from a twelve hour shift.
Cleaning takes ten seconds under the tap, no lingering freezer smells. And husband reckons I've become fancy, I reckon I've just found a cooler way to cool things for summer evenings in the garden.
This is my first time having an ice mold like this. The ice ball is pretty thick and is nice and clear. The silicone mold is pretty thick and strong. No risk if damaging it cracking the ice off. I didn't have any leaks, but it works be nice to have a water level mark on the cups. You just have to guess and top it off if shy or pour off excess. Not a big deal but would be convenient. It does take a long time. I checked it at about 20 hours and it had liquid in the cup still. I didn't check again before bed so it may have been done, but I didn't check. So I checked it today after work and it was done. At thirty dollars it's fair priced given its construction and end product , but it is a bit of a novelty as you don't super need the ice like this. I will probably put a small Tupperware in the freezer to start collecting them for when I have company as it takes so long to make them.
If you’re in the market for something that makes clear, large ice balls, this could be the product for you. It is very easy to use. You simply fill up the included plastic cup with water, snap the two pieces together, and insert it into the plastic cup with water. Then place the mold in the plastic cup inside the metal cup and place it all in the freezer. Depending on how cold your freezer is, expect it to take approximately 18 to 24 hours for the ice ball to completely form. Once finished, simply remove the plastic line in cup from the metal cup, give it a few squeezes to break the ice, remove the silicone mold, split the mold in half, and take out the ice ball. What do you end up with is a nearly perfect circular and clear large ice ball.
Here are a few additional things to know. First, while the ice ball is very clear, I had issues getting the bottom of the ice ball to be perfectly clear. However, I would save ice ball is about 90% clear. I tried this using filtered tapwater. Second, I wish they would have a measuring line for the plastic cup liner for how much water to fill it with. Make sure to do this over your sink, because likely you will have put in too much water and it will overflow as you insert the mold.
Overall, this is a easy to use product and in my opinion worth the cost if you really want that very clear large ice ball.
Own a number of ice molds and have tried a lot of different approaches to getting a decent ice ball for bourbon. This one is the easiest I've ever used by a significant margin. Fill the plastic cup with filtered water, drop the silicone mold in, slide the whole thing into the stainless steel sleeve, and put it in the freezer. That's it. About twenty hours later you've got a beautifully clear sphere that comes out cleanly without any wrestling or melting drama. Simple enough that there's really nothing to get wrong. And its compact size means it takes up less space than most in the freezer.
The ice quality is fantastic. Clear, slow melting, and the right size for a lowball glass without floating around awkwardly. Good enough that I'm already planning to order a few of the other shapes they offer. That said, there's one thing worth knowing before you buy. The plastic cup that holds the water is roughly the thickness of a disposable drinking cup, and it's not going to survive indefinitely. You get two in the kit, but eventually you'll need replacements. They're not sold on Amazon, only through the manufacturer's website at just under two bucks each. Not expensive, but you are committing to their ecosystem for consumables. Worth knowing going in, and in my opinion still worth it.
This sphere ice mold is very easy to use. The outer sleeve is made of aluminum that makes it look very high quality design. This aluminum sleeve also help to retain the temperature when removed from the freezer. The included cups make it easier to have water slowly inject water into the mold. It's very easy to remove the ice mold from the cup once ice ball is frozen.
The ice ball will remain a perfect sphere shape as it's promoted; however, there are still some bubbles inside.
Pricing wise it's very reasonable based on the quality of product received.
I never thought I'd care this much about frozen water. But the Glazer mini tray has become the unlikely hero of my evening tipple.
Saturday night, chess set folded away, kids finally out cold, I poured a dram of Talisker and released one of these 2.25 inch cubes. The stainless steel sleeve had kept everything straight so the block slid out spotless, no wrestling required, and the whisky swirled round it looking like a little amber aquarium.
And because the cube freezes top down using that plastic liner and silicone cap, it stays clear, slow melting for over an hour while I debated stats with my wife. I used boiled tap water and got zero clouding.
So, small 3.5 by 6 inch footprint, rinses clean, and cat hair hasn't stuck yet which in our house is the real benchmark. I'm sticking with it.
I didn't expect an ice cube to earn compliments, yet here we are.
Saturday night, kids tucked up by 8, I poured a Highland single malt and pulled the cube from the Glazer mini. The mould itself is a neat 3.46 by 6.10 inch block: stainless steel sleeve, squishy BPA free silicone core, plus a clear plastic insert that tells the water how to freeze, no I'm not auditioning for MasterChef. I’d filled it with boiled tap water the night before and forgotten about it, then cracked it open feeling like a budget bartender.
The cube popped out spotless, about 2.25 inches each side, and it sank into the tumbler with a cartoon plonk that made my wife laugh. And two measures later it still looked the same, barely a drip. But the best bit is how little freezer space it claims, I can still stash the kids fish fingers beside it.
If your drink deserves a little theatre this mould does the trick.
I was looking for a cool ice shape that wasn’t too kitschy, no skulls, golf balls, or anything overly novelty and the barrel design hit the perfect balance for my whiskey drinks and negronis. It looks classy and original without trying too hard.
The mold itself is a little tricky the first time you use it. It comes as a silicone insert with a plastic liner inside a stainless‑steel body, so at first glance it feels like a lot of pieces, if you've never used one. Once you understand how they fit together, though, it becomes much more straightforward. One thing I really appreciate is that the whole ice maker is small enough to fit easily in my freezer without having to rearrange everything.
Overall, a great‑looking mold that makes a unique ice shape, just expect a small learning curve on the first run.
Perfect Clear Ice Spheres for DrinksThis ice mold works really well and makes perfectly round ice spheres that look great in drinks. The ice comes out clear and melts slower than regular cubes, which is perfect for whiskey or any cold beverage.
It’s easy to fill and remove once frozen, and the overall design feels well made. Definitely a nice upgrade if you want your drinks to look more polished and stay cold longer.
Needed a proper cube to keep my Talisker honest, so I went for the Glazer mini and I’m chuffed I did.
Friday after a soggy hill trek I dropped the mould (about three and a half by six inches, silicone tucked inside a stainless sleeve) into the sink, filled the liner with boiled tap water and tucked it behind the frozen peas. Next evening the block slid out with a satisfying thud, two and a bit inches each way and clear as Deeside spring water, my ten year old even held it to the window to check.
And it lasts. One cube nursed two drams while I stretched out the calf muscles, hardly melted at all.
Build feels solid, no leaks, no freezer smell sneaking in, and the whisky stays cool without drowning the flavour. Value feels spot on.
I wasn’t sure how well a small clear ice mould would work, but this one has been brilliant. It’s simple to use fill the top section, pop it in the freezer and leave it overnight. The insulation does its job and forces the ice to freeze from the top down, so you get a proper clear cube instead of the cloudy ones you get from normal trays.
The cubes come out solid, slow melting and a really nice size for whisky or cocktails. They look great in the glass and definitely make a drink feel a bit more special. The silicone is flexible enough that the ice pops out easily without cracking.
It doesn’t take up much freezer space, and the build quality feels good. I’ve used it several times now and the results have been consistently clear.
Pros
- got a good quality feel to it all
- easy-ish to use
- works well
Cons
- not 100% reusable as there are consumables
- not quite as simple to use
I'll put it down to user error, I haven't managed to get a full ball out yet, and generally haven't used filter water as it says you can use tap water. I will be using it more often but given a 24-hour period for freezing, it's taking time to get it tested under different situations.
What was left was mostly a full ball, but not quite perfectly sphere.
It's fairly easy to use though. It's easy enough to pull out the freezer and unravel. Simple twist back and forth to loosen the idea in the plastic cup and it comes loose. Easy enough to break out the ball and it mostly takes care of itself.
It is quite costly, and might get more costly depending on your success. But it feels quicker and simpler than other options.
So far, 4.1 for me.
This is the best ice cube maker I've come across so far. If you want to make CLEAR ice cubes, you have to insulate the surrounding areas equally as well, which the small vacuum type canister does spectacularly. The cubed jig you put into the existing cup is a nice method change and much appreciated. The ice itself comes out like CRYSTAL. It looks great and makes quite an impression. Great clarity and simple to use. LARGE ice cube lasts through the night. Very nice for presentation to company or as a gift. Sized perfect for a single glass. Highly, highly recommend...
I mixed a drink at home over the weekend, and the ice cubes made with this ice maker were very textured. The finished product is very transparent and looks beautiful in the cup. The ice cubes are just the right size and won’t melt easily overnight. The operation is not complicated and can be completed by following the steps. It is suitable for daily use or entertaining friends.
Bedtime finally landed, the kids were asleep and the washing up could wait, so I treated myself to a quiet pour of Highland Park and tried my new Glazer mini.
Filling the silicone top took all of twenty seconds, I used the kettle water from earlier, clicked the mould into its chunky stainless body and slid it onto the freezer shelf beside the fish fingers. Next evening I popped the lid and out rolled a crystal clear 2.56 inch sphere that looked like it belonged in a fancy city bar rather than my terraced kitchen, my nine year old would probably try to play marbles with it if she saw.
And it melts at a snail’s pace, so the second half of the dram tasted the same as the first, no sad watery finish. But the real joy is how easily the sphere releases, a gentle squeeze, no wrestling, no cracks. Cleaning? Rinse, done. I’m grinning every Friday night now.
okay so i got this Glazer mini clear ice cube mold and i didnt think i’d care this much about ice but here we are 😭
first off it actually makes clear ice which is kinda cool?? like my drinks look way fancier now for no reason lol. i used it for iced coffee and it just hits different idk how to explain it
it’s really easy to use aswell, you just fill it up and stick it in the freezer, nothing complicated. i was lowkey expecting it to be annoying but it’s not. the cubes come out pretty easy too, not loads of struggling like some trays
the size is mini so the cubes are smaller which i actually like, they fit in like any glass and chill drinks quicker i think?? or maybe that’s just me lol
only thing is you do have to be a bit patient if you want them super clear, like it’s not instant perfection every time but still way better than normal cloudy ice
overall i’d recomend if you wanna feel slightly boujee making drinks at home 😂 it’s simple but does the job and looks cute in a weird way ✨
